Beach Prisms was created in the late 80’s as a means to protect shorelines from beach erosion. The product consists of precast concrete prisms (creating a breakwater), measuring 3 to 4 feet in height and 10 feet in length. Its triangular slotted design creates stability and durability, that has been proven to withstand hurricanes (Hurricane Isabel specifically). Beach Prisms is permitted by state and federal agencies, including the Department of Natural Resources and the Army Corps of Engineers. Beach Prisms have been installed on over 20 sites around the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River. After 18 years of product testing and improvement of the design, Beach Prisms is ready to be reintroduced to the market for sale and installation. The improved product redesign functions in the same manner as the original. In order to make it more affordable for the customer, the product was changed to be produced in one piece instead of multiple pieces, which were then bolted together. Beach Prisms is a natural way of beach restoration. The slotted design allows water to flow through, while dissipating the energy of the waves, thus reducing the impact they have on the shoreline. Beach Prisms have been proven in some cases to build back lost shoreline, by accumulating sand in front of and behind the Prisms. Results will vary based on many factors unique to each site, including tides, prevailing winds and availability of sand. Beach Prisms are recommended for river and bay front properties only. "...
